About us
Named after the award-winning filmmaker David Lynch, the United States foundation has already brought the benefits of this programme to over 150,000 at-risk youths in the USA, Europe, Middle East, and South America. The foundation is established in the USA as a 501 (c (3) charitable organization in 2005. The widely documented changes in the lives of at-risk populations in many areas of life have been dramatic and far-reaching.
In 2012, to further the Foundation’s global out-reach programmes the David Lynch Foundation has been established as a registered charity in the United Kingdom.
DLF US and DLF UK function as separate entities with their own individual grant-making facility, but both share the same fundamental goal - to support the implementation of scientifically proven stress-reducing programmes that promote full mental and physical development and the creation of a peaceful world. The primary focus is to reach young people everywhere and at-risk groups such as unemployed youth, juvenile offenders, war veterans, homeless people, and prison inmates.
DLF UK plans to offer financial support to schools across the UK for the introduction of the DLF “Quiet Time” programme, including Transcendental Meditation, which has already proven to be so effective around the world.
The Foundation will also provide funds for independent research to assess the effects of the programmes on creativity, intelligence, brain functioning, academic performance, ADHD and learning disorders, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.
The effectiveness of DLF programmes has been researched at leading medical institutions, including Harvard, Stanford, and Yale Medical Schools, and has received endorsement and support from private foundations and government institutions worldwide.
